Is this for a male or a female?
Pharmacist

We may have to approach this hair loss management based on if one is Male or Female.

Male.
Alright. Remember we are dealing with male pattern hair loss.
Pharmacist

The best way to approach this would be:

Minoxidil

Expect an uphill battle with this. It will take time to get results.

You are looking at upward of 6 months.

Again, it is not something you can apply anytime you want. When you start, you will need to stay with it for no less than 6 months. Or else you will just be wasting your money.

You will typically see results only at the crown of the head.

Ketoconazole

Even though this is for dandruff, it helps to handle the inflammation of your scalp which may prevent hair from growing even if you use a growth stimulant.

It can also help reduce the sensitivity of the hair follicles to the effect of DHT.

Inhibit DHT

You will need a prescription drug like finasteride (Propecia®), dutasteride (Avodart®).

Biotin

A vitamin that can stimulate hair growth.

Assuming you are not prone to acne, 5,000 mcg per day of biotin can give you good results.

Make sure you are drinking lots of water while taking it.

Worth doing

1. Tricomin®

Stimulates hair growth and also helps with conditioning the hair.

This may help in a case of thin hair. But don't expect hair growth in places without hair. Think of it as a filler to make the hair feel fuller.

2. Spironolactone cream (5%)

This block DHT from reaching the hair follicle
