Ingrown toenails?

Here the corner or side of your toenails grow down and into the soft flesh of the toe.
Pharmacist

It is always better to take care of it before any complications occur. For instance, the tissue surrounding the toe can become infected.

Pharmacist

Seek urgent care or call the doctor.
Pharmacist

Here is why:

  • Part of the nail may need to be removed by the doctor.

Numbing medicine is first injected into the toe. Using scissors, the doctor then cut along the edge of the nail where the skin is growing over.

This portion of the nail is then removed. This is called a partial nail avulsion.

It will take 2 to 4 months for the nail to regrow.

Sometimes your doctor will use a chemical, electrical current, or another small surgical cut to destroy or remove the area from which a new nail may grow.
