Well, to keep your mind at rest, let's see if your child has an earwax problem.

  • Most of the time your child's pediatrician will check for earwax build up on each check up.
  • What you may think is earwax may be something more serious. It is better to leave that to a healthcare provider.
  • Taking out earwax, needs to be done by professionals. You run a high risk of pushing the wax further inside or causing a perforated eardrum. Leave this to the doctor.
  • Attempting to clean the ear canal may push debris and wax deeper into the canal. These accumulated substances tend to trap water. This may lead to ear infection of the ear canal.
